Design of new products

The process of designing a new product, in particular clothing, includes several key stages. This process can be complex and require the cooperation of various specialists, such as designers, sewists, technologists and marketers. Here is a general scheme for creating new clothes:

1

Idea and design

Everything starts with an idea. Designers analyse fashion trends, the needs of the target audience and the competitive environment. Schematic drawings or computer models of new clothing are developed, including design, colour, fabrics and accessories.

2

Selection of fabrics and materials
After determining the product’s design, appropriate fabrics and materials are selected. It is essential to consider the materials’ quality, cost, and design appropriateness.

3

Drawing and modelling
Detailed pictures and clothing samples are made. A computer program can be used to create 3D models of the product.

4

Patterns and cutting

Patterns (templates) are created for cutting fabrics based on the developed design. With the help of patterns, details of clothes are cut out.

5
Needlework
Sewists make clothes by joining cut parts using sewing machines. This process includes sewing seams, cutting countries, sewing buttons, zippers and other accessories.

6

Fitting and fixing
After sewing, the product undergoes control tests. Corrections are made in the dimensions or design if there is a need.

7

Finishing works
Additional elements, such as tags and labels, are produced. Final processing and quality control are in progress.

8

Packaging and labelling
Ready-made clothes are packed in individual packages and labelled with an indication of size, material composition, and care instructions.

9

Marketing and sales
The product is ready for advertising campaigns and sales. The strategy of pricing and sales of the product is established.

10

Monitoring and feedback
After a product is released, monitoring and responding to customer feedback is essential to improve the quality and design of future developments. This process can vary depending on the brand, type of garment and market conditions. It is necessary to ensure that products meet quality and design standards and satisfy consumer needs.
